30 January, 2015

The Life Insurance Association of Japan, LIAJ (Chairman: Koichiro Watanabe, President of The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company) starts delivering its original smart-phone health related application software named “Kenzo-kun” for free, which was developed in cooperation with the secretariat of the National Council for Promotion of Health Japan 21 (i.e. Japan Heath Promotion & Fitness Foundation).

The "Kenzo-kun" has various functions with five contents: "Pedometer", "Calorie Counter", "Video", "Health Checkup" and "Information."

With "Pedometer" and "Calorie Counter", users can compare their daily calorie intake and calorie expenditure from walking exercises. This will help users to understand the appropriate amount of exercise and dietary intake they need, and thus improve their lifestyle.

Besides, in the contents of "Video", we offer video lessons on yoga exercise named "Mikity no Kenkou Yoga (Mikity's Health Yoga)", of which instructor is Miki Fujimoto who is a TV personality as well as a certified yoga instructor. Users can take her yoga lessons anytime for free.

At the same time, "Kenzo-kun" also offers a simple self-health checkup tool and an information providing tool regarding a variety of topics (e.g. exercise), which can be useful for a wider range of people irrespective of age or sex.

Extending healthy life expectancy is an essential element not only in improving people's QOL (Quality Of Life) but also in maintaining vibrant economy and society. We will help people to raise their awareness on self-medication and contribute to extending healthy life expectancy, as an industry playing a role in the social security system as well as having a social mission to help improve social welfare.
