LIAJ decided to provide subsidies to 63 organizations as "Subsidy Program for Child-rearing Support Organizations"
1 October 2014
The Life Insurance Association of Japan, LIAJ (Chairman: Koichiro Watanabe, President of The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company) would like to announce that the LIAJ decided to provide subsidies totaling 14 million yen to 63 organizations as "Subsidy Program for Child-rearing Support Organizations" this year.
This program was launched in 2005 as a part of LIAJ's social service activities, and the LIAJ has been providing up to 250 thousand yen of subsidies per non-profit organization or group which supports parents who have preschool children (including expectant mothers) in the community.
The subsidy was open for the application from March 5 to April 30 of this year, and the LIAJ received 190 applications. After the discussion in the selection committee, the LIAJ decided to provide subsidies to 65 organizations totaling 14 million yen.
As the number of nuclear families increases and the local community bonds are undermined during recent years, it is becoming a social issue in Japan that the number of parents who feel anxiety about raising children is increasing. Through subsidizing non-profit organizations or groups which support those parents, the LIAJ would like to help facilitating a local community supportive of parents in child rearing and contribute to the better community welfare.
Also as a part of this program, each local association plans to hold an awarding ceremony for the selected organization, which serves as a networking event, as in the past years. In addition, the LIAJ will visit some organizations and conduct interviews with them regarding their activities, which will be posted on LIAJ's website as the record of visitation in order to promote further interaction with the organizations.
