LIAJ Conducts the "Project to Support Working Parents with Small Children" for Fiscal 2016 ~Subsidizing Day Nurseries/Clubs for After School Activities for Children~

20 April, 2016

The Life Insurance Association of Japan, LIAJ (Chairman: Yoshinobu Tsutsui, President of Nippon Life Insurance Co.) has been conducting the "Project to Support Working Parents with Small Children" as a part of its social services activities.

With the aim of addressing the issue of children on nursery school waiting lists, which is a national issue, the LIAJ fosters day nurseries/clubs for after school activities for children by providing them with subsidies for their efforts to increase the capacity and improve the quality of their services through this project. The total subsidy will be 21 million yen.

Applications for subsidy from day nurseries/clubs for after school activities for children are accepted from 20 April.

In line with the Japanese Government's growth strategy which emphasizes the need for active participation by women, through this project, the life insurance industry will contribute to improve the environment for women to well manage to work and raise children at the same time, given that the issue of children on nursery school waiting lists is discouraging active participation by women. The LIAJ would like to carry out the responsibilities shared by both public and private sectors to enhance childcare support and to create an environment that is comfortable for working women to raise their children.
